• The RJ45 modular plug designed for general Ethernet and telecommunications applications. It is a male connector which is designed to be wired to a stranded wire cable.
• The RJ45 meets the Cat6 and Cat6A standards and is backward compatible with other category cables, such as Cat5 and Cat3. 
• The RJ45 plug is therefore more suitable for use with cables over a shorter distance. The shell of the connector is made from a UL94V0 polycarbonate plastic while the contacts are 1.27μm gold plated. 
• The RJ45 is an 8P8C connector. 8P8C stands for 8 position 8 contact, which is a standard connector used in telecommunication and computer networking.
